- 6. Name the four triangle congruence criteria.
- 7. What does it mean for two triangles to be congruent, and why do we use criteria?
View answers
- 1. (c) congruent — Same shape and size means congruent.
- 2. (d) ≅ — ≅ means 'is congruent to'.
- 3. (a) SSS — SSS = Side-Side-Side.
- 4. (b) included angle — The angle must lie between the two sides.
- 5. Having exactly the same shape and size.
- 6. SSS, SAS, ASA and RHS.
- 7. Two triangles are congruent when they have exactly the same shape and size, so that one could be placed exactly over the other; this means all three pairs of corresponding sides and all three pairs of corresponding angles are equal. Checking all six parts every time would be tedious, so we use congruence criteria — short sets of conditions that guarantee congruence. If just enough matching parts agree (for example three sides, or two sides and the included angle), the triangles must be congruent, and then every other corresponding part is automatically equal too.
How it works
Every question is drawn from StudyMatic’s own Maths bank for Geometric Twins — nothing is auto-generated or invented. Pick how many of each type you want, add your own questions if you like, choose 1–4 paper sets for anti-cheating, and print the worksheet and answer key separately or save them as PDF.
