  1. 1. (a) meanSum ÷ count is the mean.
  2. 2. (b) modeMost frequent value is the mode.
  3. 3. (c) 10(5+10+15) ÷ 3 = 10.
  4. 4. (d) 9Middle value (already ordered) is 9.
  5. 5. Divide the sum of the values by the number of values.
  6. 6. The value that occurs most often in the data.
  7. 7. These three measures summarise data in different ways. The mean is the sum of all the values divided by how many there are — for the data 4, 6, 8, 10 the mean is 28 ÷ 4 = 7. The median is the middle value once the data is arranged in order; for an odd number of values it is the central one, and for an even number it is the average of the two middle values. The mode is the value that appears most often. For example, in 2, 3, 3, 5, 7 the mode is 3. Together they describe what is 'typical', and which is most useful depends on the data.
